Continuing Frédérique Vaquer's obsession with the letter E, her top white is (somewhat confusingly) named 'L'Exception' - the same as her top red.
This very delicately oaked white has a freshness and intensity not often found in the region, and compares very favourably to many a fine white Burgundy. Golden-yellow in colour, L'Exception is redolent of plums and almonds (Frédérique likens it to the tarte aux mirabelles her grandmother used to make) and has fine acidity and a wonderfully long finish, in keeping with its blend of Grenache Blanc and Macabeu.
Frédérique's wines have been described as the 'Burgundies of the South', possessing extraordinary structure, finesse, charm and drinkability. We couldn't agree more.
