Hildegard Horat-Diop has conquered her adopted home of Languedoc, despite starting her winemaking life as a Swiss import herself and consistently refusing to tow the "party line", farming organically and producing naturally from the start, despite enormous local scepticism. 

FLa Grange de Quatre Sousrom the Quatre Sous terroir just outside the village of Assignan, Hildegard has persisted, against the odds and produces a small range from her 8 hectares (14 acres) within the Saint-Chinian terroir but outside its appellation.

BLa Grange de Quatre Sous vineyardsy capitalising on her "outsider" status, Hildegard has planted and tended Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Viognier, Chardonnay, Marsanne, Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Cinsault vines and delivered a unique wine from the Swiss Petite Arvine grapes transplanted from the Valais.

Using hand-harvesting and only natural yeasts, her wines express their terroir and vintage delightfully.  La Grange de Quatre Sous has has become well-known for its interesting blends and for introducing varietals such as the Petite Arvine with style and success (and not a little determination.)
