We are lucky enough to hold stock of the 2000, 2006, 2009 and 2010 vintages of the Cartiers' showpiece cuvée, the Réserve du Mas, which demonstrates the family's dedication to the production of authentic and delicious wines at their estate in the Parc Naturel régional des Alpilles. Situated equidistant to Avignon, Arles and Salon-de-Provence, this terroir is truly one of the most beautiful places on earth. Their Réserve, produced only in years that they feel they can produce perfection, is released under the AOC Les Baux de Provence appellation and of course exhibits all the organic skills and that the Cartiers have been developing for decades (the whole vineyard has been Ecocert certified since 1980).
Varying proportions of Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache and Syrah grapes are used from vintage to vintage, in order to make the best of the terroir's production. The results are spectacular:
2000 - Browny-red in colour, with a powerful cocoa-tinged aroma. Deep lustre and elegance. Drinking well now.
2006 - Pure concentration and fruitiness with fresh garrigue herbs, olives, and spices. Delicious.
2009 - The fullest-bodied, with earthy herbal aromas of rosemary and sage, but still fresh and lively.
2010 - Spicy cinnamon notes with a hint of fruit, but the full-bodied quality does not obscure this vintage's elegance.
