Cabernet Franc is ideally suited to Niagara’s climate, but 2012 was an exceptional vintage because of the extended season, producing intense sweetness and flavour in the fruit. An elegant wine with overtones of ripe berries, rhubarb and dark cherry, with a hint of cigar tobacco amidst black pepper spice.
There's also a hint of dark chocolate, plum and blackcurrant, with silky tannins developed through maturation in primarily new French oak barrels that round things out quite beautifully. This would pair well with grilled red meats, particularly venison, veal or beef steaks.
The Exclamation series wines are produced from the highest quality Niagara grapes from the Pillitteri estate and they are given all the care and attention that their family reserve status suggests.
